Dorks and Corks 3.0
Wow, its almost time for another Dorks and Corks. It seems like the last one was just yesterday! If you're visiting the site for the first time since last year, I am revamping the capabilities to make it more user friendly, give us a few more options on what we can do with the site. I also added some advertising to see if we can't collect more money for the event somehow.
So as I look to this years event, I am going to look at the last 2 events and see what went well and what we can improve. I'll start with what went well:
D&C 1.0
- Lots of Wine
- Lots of People!
- Lots of Food
D&C 2.0
- Lots of Wine
- Lots of Tickets to the Game
- Lots of Room to Spread Out
What didn't go so well:
D&C 1.0
- Lack of Game Tickets to Husky Stadium, some last minute tickets cost $$$
- Spread out at the game
- Cost Erik, Giulia, and Laura a lot of money to finance the bash
- Not a lot of room to sleep
D&C 2.0
- Lots of dropouts and cancellations
- Extra tickets to the game
- THE RAIN!!!
- Ted, Erik, Giulia and Laura spent a lot of money to finance the bash
So here the plan for 3.0 on how to make this one better.
- Plan Ahead - pick the place and game early so everyone has plenty of time to purchase gameday tickets and set aside the weekend.
- Advertise on the site to help raise money to offset costs. Perhaps a donation tool?
- Throw it in a place where the most dorks are so we don't have to worry about lodging as much
- Settle on the theme early
I've already gotten to work on the site, next step is getting everyone here together so we can talk about the rest.
