Picking the Right Wine (that Pops!)

Wow, its New Year's Eve already and those of us who love wine come back to the annual question:

What bubbly shall we bring to this years New Year's Eve Party?

Well, I always think the wine has to fit the situation. So whats the situation? People, Place, and Timing. Sooooo...

  1. People - Some people enjoy wine, some people know way too much about wine and some people don't care for wine but have a glass on New Years. For the first, bring a sparkling _____ (insert grape here) because its all about being adventurous, for the second bring a nice bottle of champagne, and for the third bring a bottle of Prosecco, so lovely and easy to drink it may inspire them to buy a bottle in the next year.
  2. Place - Don't bring your best bottle of Champagne to a boozer, and don't bring the bottle you bought at Target to a party of winos (or maybe a party at all). Theres a place for those prized bottles and Target wines, thinks about whether it fits.
  3. Timing - Champagne and bubbly that has been sitting on your rack for awhile may be ready or past ready to drink. They are some of the hardest wines to cellar, so do a bit of research to see if your little wine is ready to come out of the bottle.

I'm bringing one of my prized Villa Sandi Sparkling Rose' bottles, not too low with a lot of sentimental value, easy to match with food at the dinner tonight, plus they're about ready to drink. Maybe even past their prime.

But hey, New Years is all about letting bygones be bygones right!

Happy New Years and stay safe, don't drink and drive!
